SMBA Update October 22, 2014

Changing Pools For Round Two

The second round starts December 6. Based on team performance, coaches must let the SMBA know by November 10 if they wish to change pools for the second round.

Respect in Sport

If you haven’t completed the Respect in Sport online module please get that done by December 1.  If you have it from prior years, then it counts, so please send me your “RIS” number that you would have received when you finished it.  The link for the module is here:

Criminal Checks

Criminal checks are due on October 18, 2014. You can give it to the gym sup at your first game or email it to the SMBA office.  If you had to have finger prints completed make sure you keep the sheet when you get this. You can just show them in future years at the station.

Team Exchange Program For Girls

The Canada Sports Friendship Exchange Programs (CSFEP) operates Reciprocal Cultural Exchanges for the youth of Canada between the ages of 12 – 17 yrs old, through sports and non-sport groups. Our aims and goals are to promote friendship, better understanding and respect for one another’s language and culture.

The CSFEP receives a contribution from the Federal Government, Department of Canadian Heritage, to help cover travel expenses for these exchanges.

We invite you to read the documentation on our website  as we are now accepting applications for the 2014 – 2015 fiscal year and we would like to extend this opportunity and experience of a lifetime to the youth in your area.

At the moment we are looking for a girls basketball team ages 12-14 yrs to participate in our program, to be matched with a group of same from the maritimes.

Feel free to contact our office for any further information. We will be contacting you in the next few days.
